Whether you know her as Anne or Annie you know what an
enormous talent and great performer she is. Warmth, energy, and heartfelt
songs pour from a heart so big you'll wonder how this woman keeps from
exploding! Come and see Anne and her friends or buy her CDs and learn for
"Jungle Heart is one of the best
albums in any genre that I have
heard in years. ...This is a great record -- great songs, great sound,
- Tom Prasada-Rao,
Singer/Songwriter, Dallas, TX
"Annie Lalley is one of the
funniest and most likable personalities you'll ever see on stage --which makes
the depth of her songwriting all the more striking"
Pettis, Singer/Songwriter, Compass
Records, Nashville, TN
"[Annie Lalley's] second indie release covers a wide range of styles...the musicianship is faultless, the songs well-constructed..."
- Robert Mills, Maverick Magazine, UK
Sitting in the audience at an Annie
Lalley show I find myself bouncing through my own catalog of emotions like a
pinball. I'm moved deeply one moment, only to be struggling for breath through
my laughter the next. Her clear, haunting voice delivers well-crafted songs
without pretense, then she pulls you back with endearingly scattered
self-deprecating humor that is even funnier for its honesty and relevance. I
catch Annie whenever I can. It's good for the soul.
- David Lamotte, Singer/Songwriter
"It is a strong clear beautiful voice. It made you want to close your eyes and listen."
- Andrew Street, Out 'n About Magazine
"Few performers could present themselves in such an emotionally naked way without appearing contrived."
- Jim Magill, The Mountain Express
"Best Album by Local Artist: Anne Lalley's long awaited debut recording
Promise was tremendous. She sure can sing."
- Tony Kiss, Asheville Citizen-Times, Asheville, NC
"[Annie Lalley and Joe Ebel] are perfect musical complements , encouraging and working off of each other musically...
their music sounds different, authentic. Not like the typical paint-by-numbers music played on radio."
Nancy Stetson, The Naples Daily News, Naples, Florida
"When I first popped Annie
Lalley's CD into my toaster, there was a horrible
smell . . . but I got used to it"
Pettis, Singer/Songwriter, Compass Records Recording Artist
Singer Songwriter Anne Lalley has performed in clubs from her home state of North Carolina to the cafes of France and the former Soviet Union. A native of Asheville, North Carolina, she is a veteran of that city's music scene and in 1992 she won an emerging artist grant given by the
Community Arts Council of Asheville.
Anne has headlined the Savannah Folk Festival, opened for Tom Paxton in Atlanta (and received a standing ovation for that performance) played concerts from Texas to DC, and from Wisconsin to Florida. Around Western North Carolina she has performed at the Belle Chere Festival, Asheville's First Night Festival, the Lake Eden Arts Festival (LEAF), and has headlined the Black Mountain Folk Festival accompanied by
Windham Hill guitarist Bill Mize. She has also been heard on Georgia Public Radio's Evening Star Concert program.
Her material ranges from personal and social issues to charmingly uproarious humor. Her wide vocal range and reverent treatment of the material, whether her own or cover tunes, elicits a warm enthusiasm from her audiences.
Anne has released her first CD of original songs,
titled Promise , with Sony producer Rob Friedman and features some of New York's and the southeast's finest musicians.
Her second CD of original songs, Jungle
Heart, was produced by Chris Rosser and Walter
Parks with guest appearances by Bill Mize,
Stuart Reinhardt, Michael Manring, Joe
Ebel, Don Porterfield and many others!
